Having any of the following symptoms:

• Stomach infection with Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori).
• Chronic gastritis (gastritis).
• High risk anemia.
• Intestinal metaplasia (a condition in which the lining of the stomach is replaced by cells lining the intestines).
• Gastric polyp.
• Epstein-Barr virus.
• Familial syndromes (including familial adenomatous polyposis).
• Have a diet high in salty foods, smoked foods and low in fruits and vegetables.
• Eat foods that are not properly prepared or stored.
• Being older or male.
• Smoking.
• Having a mother, father, sister or brother with stomach cancer.

Stage of cancer whether it is only in the stomach or has spread to the      lymph nodes or other parts of the body.

When stomach cancer is found too early, it is more likely to improve.

After being diagnosed with stomach cancer, tests are done to see if the cancer cells have spread inside the stomach or to other parts of the body.
